Just been visiting people in the smallest county in the land, Rutland. We got back here at about 6pm, with fairly comfortable traffic, both ways.
In my mailbox was a reply to the complaint I'd made about the disproportionate way that police deal with state sponsored thuggery (such as that exhibited by the UAF during our RWB festival) and the way police deal with anti state protestation (I cited an example from neighbouring force, South Yorkshire during the miners strike 25 years earlier, known as The Battle of Orgreave)
As promised, here is the full reply, which is basically an acknowledgement of my complaint.
Dear Mr Advxas
I refer to the complaint you made in your e mail dated 17 August 2009.
It appears that your complaint concerns the quality of services provided by the Constabulary and, as such, is an issue of 'Direction and Control' as defined by the Police Reform Act 2002[1].
I have recorded your complaint under the above Quality of Service reference and have forwarded your correspondence to Chief Superintendent Sherwood, Divisional Commander, 'A' Division, for allocation to a senior officer to look into the issues you raise. You should expect an officer from that division to contact you shortly to discuss your concerns. During the course of these enquiries, if any officer is found to have breached the Standards of Professional Behaviour, the matter will be referred back to Professional Standards Department for reassessment.
Please be assured that Derbyshire Constabulary is committed to providing a high quality of service to the public. You may be interested to know that the Constabulary was only the second police force to secure both the prestigious 'Investors in People' and 'Chartermark' awards, in recognition of our commitment to excellence in public service, and recently became the first police force to achieve accreditation under the Government's Customer Service Excellence Standard.
Thank you for bringing this matter to my attention. This is one way that we receive feedback from the public. It is only by the actions of people such as yourself taking the trouble to contact us that we can improve the quality of service provided to all, or have the opportunity to provide an explanation for a particular situation or policing response.
Yours sincerely
on behalf of Richard Oldknow

Head of Professional Standards Department
[1] Section 12 of The Police Reform Act 2002 deals with complaints of misconduct by police officers and staff. The Independent Police Complaints Commission [IPCC] is responsible for overseeing complaints of misconduct against persons serving with the police. As it appears that your complaint does not relate to the conduct of a person serving with the police, but operational policing policies, organisational management decisions or the general standard of policing, it has been recorded as a 'Direction and Control' complaint under the above reference.

We must now wait and see if the appalling treatment that my family received at the hand of The State funded Fascist UAF will be dealt with, or whether, as I suspect, I will get fobbed off again!
